Lake Trip

David and I got to go up to Canyon Lake yesterday with David's sister Rosalee and her boyfriend Jake (who owned the boat) and David's cousin Esther and her husband Justin. Justin and Esther were the first to try out the kneeboard and they had no idea how to do it. Esther caught on and was able to stay on for awhile, but Justin pushed himself on the board sideways and kept getting thrown off. Rosalee and David then went together and the two were pretty impressive and both stayed on for a really long time. Rose told me I was next and I kept saying " No, no no, someone else can go". But David was still in the water waiting for me so I made myself go and try to learn. I was amazed that after I few tries I was able to get up (even though I didn't stay on as long as him and Rose). I kept telling David "I can't do it!" and he said if you say that one more time I'm gonna push you off! :) So I made myself believe I could do it and below is a shot of the outcome. I'm very proud of myself despite the terrified look on my face.

I told David that I'm one of those people that you have the MAKE me do something I don't want to 95% of the time when I'm trying new things before I will do it---and the majority of the time, I find that I really like doing those thing. I am not a risk taker by any means.

David also went wakeboarding and I was suprised just how GOOD he was---good at the sport and good looking as he withstood all the crashing waves around him.

Anniversary #1

This past weekend David and I got to take a little bit of time off of work (and by little bit, I mean half a day for me and two days for David). We decided that since we weren't going to be able to go on any major vacations this year due to the fact that I will be starting masters in the fall and david will be going to ASU as well (and little money with all the tuition expenses) that we would make our anniversary our "mini" vacation. We went to see Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian and then enjoyed dinner at the Olive Garden. As you can see, we are downing a Strawberry Daquiri (non-alcoholic, thank you :) ).

David ran out of hair gel and forgot to tell me, so we're stickin with the messy hair!

We then headed out to the Buttes Marriott hotel which is right in the middle of the city of Tempe, yet, when you turn down the road that leads to the hotel, immediately you are immersed in a desert scene that appears to be miles away from the closest city. It was around 7:30 when we finally got there, just in time for the sun to start going down. We lugged everything to our hotel room and then climbed the small Buttes (mountain) and enjoyed a view of the city.

David and I decided to test out the swimming pools which were beautifully layed out on one of the mountains. Unfortunately the water slide wasn't up and running both at night and in the morning when we went swimming again. The pool had a glass wall on the side of it so we were able to get some fun pictures. I realize that everything we did was still in the heat of tempe arizona, but for us it was a nice little get away.

David and I have been debating over the last week or so what we should do for our one year anniversary, seeing how it is coming up this Sunday. We have decided that we would celebrate it June 13th as David has that Friday and Saturday off. I had wanted to go to the Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, but the package we wanted apparently was only for Sunday through Thursday (not Friday and Saturday, the only days we had).

This anniversary is also going to be our "vacation" as David and I are trying to save up for school for the next couple of years (hence wanting to go to a resort). So....for those of you who have any romantic, vacation like (in Arizona) ideas we would love some input!! :)

On a fun note, David and I just bought an '07 Toyota Corolla on Memorial. We are so excited to have a car with air conditioning and something that won't need a repair every month (hopefully). Below is basically the picture of a the car we got, (Tinted windows and all), only ours is a beautiful black sparkly color.
